Clarified butter is without the lactose and other milk solids. It is traditionally prepared by gently heating butter until it becomes a clear golden liquid. The lactose and other milk solids coagulate and are meticulously removed. This process also evaporates most of the natural water content, making the clarified butter light, pure and resistant to spoilage.

Raspberry French Toast

Serves 4
  • 200ml low fat milk
  • 3 medium eggs
  • 1 tablespoon soft brown sugar or caster sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon pinch of salt
  • 4 tablespoons QBB Pure Ghee
  • 8 slices raisin or walnut bread slices
  • 4 tablespoons raspberry jam

  1. Using a whisk, beat milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla essence, cinnamon and salt together in a mixing bowl. Set aside.
  2. Heat QBB Pure Ghee in a frying pan.
  3. Dip the bread slices into the beaten mixture and fry until golden brown, turning once.
  4. Repeat with remaining bread.
  5. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. Serve with raspberry jam.
